Olympic Athlete Visit

On Wednesday 12th July we were lucky enough to welcome Tom Haffield, a former Olympic swimmer to Colley Lane Primary Academy. Tom competed at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, World Championships and 3 Commonwealth Games.

He spoke to all our Key Stage 2 children about his journey through his swimming career, his ups and downs and once falling into a stream as a baby! His story was compelling and extremely inspiring.

Tom then led some fun and engaging activities with some year 6 children - focussing on mindset. He encouraged the group to stay calm and focused, whilst blocking out background noise, in order to complete the task. They tried to clap on the bounce and to count a minute in their heads - not as easy as you think!

Let's hope this can inspire our children at Colley Lane to become superstars of their own!
